Last Days in Paris

I left France on the 27th of July, and so today, it seems, marks a month since my last day there. The last day was a Sunday, and Nick and I spent the afternoon on the Île de la Grande Jatte.* We walked in the rain and visited the Maison de la Peche et de la Nature, where fish ate out of our hands and we were introduced to a crayfish named Alice.

It had been Nick's birthday on the 25th, and we spent that walking around, climbing hills and eating cake before seeing a boat that, for one euro, would take us out to Bobigny, and so we went out to Bobigny and then caught the metro back and had dinner at Clamato and drinks with friends at the Green Goose. It was a lovely weekend. It had been a lovely year.

These are some of the pictures I took on my phone during my last few weeks in Paris. They're a little more casual than the photos I take with my digital camera, but perhaps that's why I feel like they're also a little more personal. I suppose photos taken with a phone, quickly and quietly, are often of slightly fleeting moments. They're less studied, and I kind of like that.

I expected I would miss Paris and feel nostalgic for my time there, but I didn't really expect to feel this way so quickly. I'm excited about moving to New York, once I get my work visa, but I hope I can live in Paris again someday. These are some of the pictures I took on my phone during my last few weeks there.
